Education projects

Hatch My Ideas has developed a unique and innovative programme of education work that is being delivered to students of all ages across the United Kingdom. The team works with schools, community groups, The Children's Society and young offenders institutions. Providing opportunities to all is of significant importance to the organisation. As a signatory to the Government-led Music Manifesto, HMI shares the vision that music is important for the social and cultural values it represents and promotes, and for the communities it can help to build and unite. HMI motivates young people through music-making and helps them achieve a creative goal. The charity aims to reflect the diversity of Britain today through music education and make it accessible to more people. The overwhelmingly positive response which the programme has received from schools, Head-Teachers and Councils reflects the real need for this type of innovative education work throughout the UK. HMI aims to establish a sustainable culture of creativity which will inspire and motivate young people, school staff and communities as a whole. HMI Facilitators will enable the projects to be driven by the inspiration and commitment of the students and staff taking part, thus firmly planting the seed of creativity for future generations to nurture and sustain. In a recent development, Hatch My Ideas! is now running a 3 year pilot programme in partnership with Bedford School. This programme will incorporate music based learning into citizenship modules, a lecture series for final year students and a coaching course for senior music pupils. Over the course of 3 years this programme will be filtered down through the whole school. The Voces Cantabiles Youth Choir offers a residential course three times a year for promising young singers, which includes UK concert tours, international tours and recording opportunities. Scholarships and bursaries are available for this auditioned choir.
